Precise Receives Record-Breaking Donations for Toys for Tots 2023

LEXINGTON PARK, MD, December 22, 2023 – The Precise Systems Charitable Contributions Committee is proud to announce they received over 600 toy donations from multiple office locations around the country and from their remote workforce. These donations included bikes, board games, stuffed animals, dolls, Legos, books, balls, arts and crafts, toy cars, and stocking stuffers.

Precise has been partnering with Toys for Tots each holiday season for over five years now, and each year, employees have gone above and beyond to show their support of the Precise Charitable mission to #GiveWhereYouLive. This year, however, the company received more donations than ever. With three office locations, as well as a plethora of remote employees all over the nation, Precise collected over 600 toys that they were able to donate to local Toys for Tots chapters in three different states.

Scott Pfister, Precise Systems Chief Executive Officer and President, has a special connection to Toys for Tots. As a retired Marine, Scott is passionate about supporting Marine organizations and instills the value of #GiveWhereYouLive in every Precise employee. Scott crafted a creative challenge to increase participation in this year’s toy drive at Precise, encouraging the leadership to ramp up participation with some friendly competition. Precise Systems Senior Vice President, Greg ‘Curly’ Anderson took first place for most toys collected within a business area, and his efforts were celebrated at the Precise Holiday Employee Recognition event. The Precise team gathered to sort, count, and load toys onto the trailer to be taken to one of the local Toys for Tots chapters in Lexington Park, MD.

This is the company’s final charitable initiative for 2023, and it proved to be one of the most successful campaigns in Precise history. Through the presence, generosity, and good cheer of their employees, coupled with the company’s dedication to our nation, Precise is honored to bring joy to the holiday season and provide a tangible sign of hope to America’s less fortunate children.

The survey captures the areas of greatest importance to transitioning service members, veterans, and their families when looking for an employer. Recruitment and employment practices, as well as retention and support programs, were given the most weight and importance in scoring and final rankings.

Precise Attends First-Ever MOSA Industry & Government Summit & Expo

LEXINGTON PARK, MD, November 17, 2023 – On September 18th and 19th, 2023, the first-ever Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) Industry and Government Summit and Expo brought together more than 1,500 exhibitors, attendees, and partners representing federal offices, industry executives, and subject matter experts from across the DoD. Included in these attendees were members of our PMA-209 Avionics Architecture Team (AAT) and Common Mission Computers and Displays (CMCD) IPT Team – Sally Bixby Chris Slyfield, Jason Morris, and Bryan Stovall.

The two-day event included Leadership Keynotes and panels; technical and business sessions; and exhibitor product and capability demonstrations from a broad array of MOSA experts. The event also included a tech innovation challenge aspect which provided companies an opportunity to present their latest product(s) to a panel of judges from Tri-Services and Industry. The MOSA Summit provided first-hand engagement with top government offices on initiatives, as well as with leading Industry executives and authorities implementing MOSA.

Keynote speakers included HON. Heidi Shyu, Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering; HON. Nickolas Guertin, Director of Operational Test and Evaluation; Christopher Garrett, Technical Advisor for US Air Force Life Cycle Management Center; and John Whitley, Former Acting Secretary of the US Army. At the Expo, attendees engaged directly with US Army PEO Aviation, US Army DEVCOM C5ISR Center, US Navy NAVAIR Air Combat Electronics Program Office, and US Air Force Life Cycle Management Center at their individual booths.

The CMCD IPT Team within PMA-209 presented at the Army PEO Aviation booth and Jason Morris had the opportunity to participate in the Army Aviation Mission Computing Environment Panel session, which discussed the challenges of implementing Open Standards. This opportunity made it possible to discuss all the work the CMCD IPT has been doing within PMA-209, for over a decade, along with the recent collaboration with the Army PEO Aviation. The panel discussion included a synopsis of all the work the CMCD IPT has been doing to bring flexibility and interoperability within Naval Aircraft using Open Standards.

As part of this booth presentation, Bryan Stovall speaks of his experience, saying, “I was privileged to be a part of the first-ever MOSA Summit. It was great to see how so many DoD Vendors/Suppliers have embraced the concept of open standards. Understandably, the DoD would like to move away from ‘vendor-lock’ and moving to modular-based open standards will help to reach that goal. Based on my experience at the MOSA Summit, the vendors that attended do not see the move as a threat to their business, but rather as a logical progression to help strengthen our armed forces.”

At the AAT booth – in collaboration with the Army DEVCOM C5ISR Center and Air Force Life Cycle Management Center – Chris Slyfield and Sally Bixby, along with the PMA-209 team, put a spotlight on a coordinated mission built on common DoD Open Architecture Standards in real-time interoperability. Other AAT booth demo stations featured a new Technical Starter Kit – a complete package for Learning and Implementing a FACE™ Application; plus, the HOST/Hardware Open Systems Technologies framework V5.0 recently released; the new Data Modeling Video Series, and more.

Precise is proud to have such a well-rounded presence representing our Team at the first-ever MOSA Summit. We look forward to future attendance and gaining new knowledge to better innovate at the edge of our nation’s warfighters.

Precise Named #1 2024 Military Friendly® Employer and #6 Military Spouse Friendly® Employer

LEXINGTON PARK, MD, Nov 15th, 2023 — Precise Systems announced today that it has earned the 2024 Military Friendly® Employer and Military Spouse Friendly® Employer designations.

Institutions earning the Military Friendly® Employer designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. Over twelve hundred companies participated in the 2024 Military Friendly® survey.

Once again, Precise Systems earned Top 10 statuses in both the MFE and MSFE designations:

  • #1 – 2024 Military Friendly® Employer
  • #6 – 2024 Military Spouse Friendly® Employer

Methodology, criteria, and weightings were determined by VIQTORY with input from the Military Friendly® Advisory Council of independent leaders in the military recruitment community. Final ratings were determined by combining an organization’s survey score with an assessment of the organization’s ability to meet thresholds for Recruitment, New Hire Retention, Employee Turnover, and Promotion & Advancement of veterans and military employees.

“At our core, the vision of Precise Systems is to aid in safeguarding our nation and support its defenders – past, present, and future,” says Christina Payne, Chief People Officer of Precise Systems. “We actively seek to hire veterans because we understand that mission-focused candidates make the best employees. We know that their service experience has afforded them an unmatched sense of cultural understanding and passion for supporting our nation’s warfighters. We help build upon the leadership skills gained during their service by providing a clear path to professional growth. As a company comprised of nearly three-quarters veteran leadership, we are veterans helping veterans, and our culture is built to recognize and honor these men and women as not just warriors, but true American heroes.”

“Organizations earning the Military Friendly Employers designation have wholeheartedly invested in comprehensive and impactful initiatives that bring about positive, life-changing results for our valued service members, dedicated military spouses, and esteemed veterans within their ranks. We salute these exemplary employers who raise the bar and understand that hiring military personnel is not merely an act of goodwill but a testament to a standard that truly embodies sound business wisdom. Their steadfast commitment to integrating military personnel into their workforce not only reflects their compassion but also underscores their business acumen,” says Kayla Lopez, Senior Director of Military Partnerships at Military Friendly®.

Precise Systems will be showcased in the 2024 Military Friendly® Employers in the Winter issue of G.I. Jobs® magazine and on MilitaryFriendly.com.

#PeopleOfPrecise: Meet Jason Morris

Meet Jason Morris – CMCD Engineering Lead for PMA-209, LAUNCH Ambassador, and Precise Systems’ Employee Spotlight for October 2023.

Jason has been an integral part of our Precise Team since 2016. As a Senior Principal Engineer with our NAVAIR PMA-209 customer, he supports the Common Mission Computing and Displays (CMCD) Team.

Among many noteworthy contributions and accolades, Jason recently participated in a panel for the inaugural MOSA Industry & Government Summit & Expo as a Subject Matter Expert, highlighting the work of bringing flexibility and interoperability to Naval Aircraft using Open Standards. When we asked Jason what participating on the panel meant, he said, “Sitting on the panel was an honor to be among a group to talk about the challenges of implementing Open Standards. The interest and discussion that took place was amazing, especially with it being the first MOSA Summit.”

Jason is also a contributing founder of the Engineering Focus under the company’s LAUNCH Program, the Precise Systems’ Center of Excellence.

Jason, along with his colleagues, is putting the foundations of the Engineering Focus of LAUNCH that will provide thought leadership, establish and promote best practices, support research and development within the focus, support education and professional growth across the organization, further developing and innovating the Precise Systems Advanced Engineering capability.

While he has seen incredible success in his Engineering career, Jason did not always have his sights set on this particular path. His original goal was to major in Criminal Justice and become a detective. Still, his hopes for a Navy ROTC Scholarship led him to pursue a degree in Electrical Computer Engineering. After being part of the Nuclear Navy, he realized that his interest in Engineering was increasing, and his desire to be a detective had fallen to the wayside. This interest led him to further his Engineering expertise with a Master of Science in Engineering Management from Old Dominion University in 2005 and another Masters in Systems Engineering from George Washington University in 2014.

Outside of the office, Jason loves to travel! Aside from Hawaii and Alaska, he has visited every state in the U.S. However, visiting those last two states is #1 on his bucket list. He would also love to take a trip to Ireland and vacation on a cruise!

Precise is so grateful to have Jason on the Team.  His hard work and dedication to the company, the LAUNCH program’s success, and his contributions to innovating engineering to support the warfighter are unparalleled.

PRECISE SYSTEMS HONORED AS A 2023 VETS INDEXES 5 STAR EMPLOYER

LEXINGTON PARK, MD – September 19, 2023 — Precise Systems, an established leader in delivering professional services and technical solutions for the Department of Defense, has earned the VETS Indexes 5 Star Employer designation as part of the 2023 VETS Indexes Employer Awards. The award recognizes Precise Systems’ commitment to recruiting, hiring, retaining, developing and supporting veterans and the military-connected community.

“As more and more employers recognize the cutting-edge technical skills and soft skills veterans bring to the workplace, the race to attract military-connected talent gets increasingly competitive. The number of organizations participating in the 2023 VETS Indexes Employer Awards more than doubled since last year – but even in this highly competitive environment, Precise distinguished itself among veteran employers and should be commended,” Altman said.

This year, a record number of 239 organizations participated in the VETS Indexes Employer Awards, more than double the 118 participants in 2022. Of those, VETS Indexes recognized 200 organizations across the following award levels: 5 Star Employer, 4 Star Employer, 3 Star Employer, and Recognized Employer. Not every responding organization made the cut – only those that demonstrated a strong commitment to veterans, members of the National Guard and Reserves, and military spouses. Participating organizations included companies large and small, government agencies and departments, nonprofit groups, colleges, and universities.

As the most objective and comprehensive evaluation of veteran employers, the VETS Indexes Employer Awards program has set a new standard in veteran employment data. VETS Indexes award results have been featured on CNBC, as well as military-specific outlets, including Military.com. This in-depth survey and recognition program analyzes employers’ policies, practices, and outcomes in detail, across the following 5 categories:

  • Veteran job candidate recruiting and hiring
  • Veteran employee development and retention
  • Veteran-inclusive policies and culture
  • Support for members of the National Guard and Reserves
  • Military spouse/family support

#PeopleofPrecise: Meet Mike Purzycki

Meet Mike Purzycki – Subject Matter Expert, Industry Writer, and Precise Systems’ Employee Spotlight for August 2023.

Mike currently supports our NAVSEA FMS/ILS team in Washington, D.C. as a Project Analyst. Outside of the office, he is a published author, having been featured in many well-known industry publications, including Divergent Options, the Center for Maritime Strategy, and the Center for International Maritime Security. He began writing and submitting his work after earning his Master’s degree in Global Affairs from Rutgers University. Some of his favorite topics to write about are national security, public policy, and the Sea Services.

When he’s looking for more of a casual read, Mike’s go-to book is George Orwell’s 1984. When asked why, he says, “I love the theme of the independent mind struggling against great odds.” He’d also love to sit down and have a meal with George Orwell himself!

Part of the reason why Mike is so passionate about industry-specific writing is that it allows him to better understand and expand his areas of expertise with each article he creates, and he believes that this could be beneficial for others on our Precise Team. His advice? “I think writing for policy- and security-focused outlets is a good way to convey the importance of your work to an interested audience. If you want to show how your job is important to America’s defense, a publication read by people in the security realm is a good place to do it. Doing research for an article you’re about to write is also a good way to understand how your area of expertise interacts with others.”

Precise Systems is pleased to have such driven go-getters like Mike on our Team. We thank Mike for all his hard work, and we can’t wait to see what he comes up with next.
